The expectation of the project was to progressively change the socio-economic background of the municipality and improve the lives of its people.

The Municipality predominantly being a mining area has been a target for many individuals migrating from all parts of the country to engage in mining activities. Issues of indiscriminate mining and related health implications have been a major concern which most of the youth attribute to the lack of enforcement of mining regulations as well as establishment of alternative income generating jobs. Most of the youth engaging in this indiscriminate act feel entitled to the lands whilst others also aim for employment offers from the major mining companies. This occasionally results in invasion of mining concessions, robbery, insecurity, school dropouts, environmental pollution and sickness which at the end, women are affected.

The expectation of the project was to progressively change the socio-economic background of the municipality and improve the lives of its people. It was also expected to reduce the burden of families and the society at large due to the growing youth unemployment and its resultant social vices across the municipality. The project in the long run is envisioned to bring total transformation across all sectors of the economy with women playing a major role. People who benefitted from the pilot phase expressed satisfaction and exhibited passionately the impact the project has had on their lives. Those who were interviewed in their establishments said they are now comfortable because they have a job that earns them income to cater for their families. Women who were trained in the production of cleansing agents, soap making, batik tye and dye are making sales of their products and earning income to cater for their children needs in schools. Others who also acquired skills in aquaculture especially catfish rearing have produced results of commercial sales to improve the lives and families. The visible impact of the programme on the lives of the people in their respective communities has led to key stakeholders made up of traditional leaders, assembly members and the civil society to call for the project to be expanded to include lot of the people who have expressed interest to get trained. The programme is cost and time efficient since participants need basic tools and equipment to start, except for those who opt for training in the engineering category that needs special attention. The programme has the potential to be scaled up cover more participants who were expressed interest but could not be absorbed due to inadequate financial support.
