The Municipality predominantly being a mining area has been a target for many individuals migrating from all parts of the country to engage in mining activities. Issues of indiscriminate mining and related health implications have been a major concern which most of the youth attribute to the lack of enforcement of mining regulations as well as establishment of alternative income generating jobs. Most of the youth engaging in this indiscriminate act feel entitled to the lands whilst others also aim for employment offers from the major mining companies. This occasionally results in invasion of mining concessions, robbery, insecurity, school dropouts, environmental pollution and sickness which at the end, women are affected.
