BlueBoat is Turku UAS’s compact USV research platform for autonomous systems development, sensor integration, and maritime data collection. It supports rapid testing of onboard computing, communication systems, and AI-related measurements, providing a flexible platform for hydrographic surveys, field experiments, and future autonomous vessel technologies.
Turku University of Applied Sciences (Turku UAS) develops practical, research-based solutions together with companies, public-sector organisations, authorities, and international partners. At SSD2026, Turku UAS presents its expertise in AI-powered autonomous and intelligent systems, with a strong focus on real-world testing, sensor technologies, situational awareness, and resilient solutions for demanding operational environments.
Through its Autonomous and Intelligent Systems (AIS) research group, Turku UAS supports the development, testing, and deployment of advanced technologies for maritime, land, and air domains. Our work combines applied research, modern test environments, and close co-creation with industry partners.
Turku UAS is an innovative and practice-oriented research, development, and innovation partner. We provide expertise, laboratories, test environments, and project support for organisations developing new technologies, services, and operational capabilities.
Our research and development activities help partners turn ideas into tested, validated, and deployable solutions. We work closely with companies, authorities, and public-sector actors to support sustainable growth, technological resilience, and real-world impact.
Turku UAS offers research, testing, piloting, and co-development services for organisations working with:
Turku UAS bridges the gap between applied research and operational deployment. Our strength lies in combining fast and flexible RDI, modern laboratories and test platforms, multidisciplinary expertise, and active collaboration with companies and authorities.
The Autonomous and Intelligent Systems research group works especially with maritime autonomous systems, intelligent sensor-based solutions, AI, robotics, and data-driven technologies. Our work supports both civilian and defence-related innovation, strengthening technological resilience, situational awareness, and operational capability in the Baltic Sea region and beyond.
