APIS Health Angels is an investment group formed to help healthcare startups seek funding, invite new investors to dip their toes in the healthcare investing world, and grow the healthcare startup community. Conferences are held twice a year for startups to network, pitch their companies, and attempt to wow investors for an investment opportunity. We also hold workshops often for startups and investors to learn more about running businesses, seeking investment, and investing.
About 10% of our community are "Accredited" by Federal law, however, most don't invest. The Angel Conference provides a "learning by doing" pathway for doing the first Angel Investment.
To be "Accredited", you need a net worth over $1M or you need an annual income over $200K. Many in our tech community are accredited, but don't know it.
By having more Angel Investors, we are able to accelerate the early stage startups that drive the next economy.
The Startup Investor Accelerator is a learn by doing program that grows new effective Angel Investors. At the same time it makes stronger startup companies. Between topical workshops and a structured investment process, new investors and early startup founders are able to gain perspective on the early pre-seed investing process.
The program gathers 40 investors form an SPV based fund. That fund then explores 50+ companies to find one which they can invest the fund into. That action of building and deploying a fund creates the first Business Angel Investment for the Investors. The investors meet weekly over the 3 month program as they engage with the evaluation of the companies. Each of the companies will go through a series of rounds of pitching, discussion and selection. Even though only one company will be selected in the end, the startups get stronger by getting direct feedback, updating all their fundraising documents, meeting a network of 40 new Angel Investors and having access to the wider Investor community at the final event.
